HUNWICK has all the hallmarks of a pit community which no longer has a pit. There’s a country walk along a former railway line, a light industrial site on top of an old pithead and brickworks, and rows of terraced houses which look out over the rolling green hills dropping to the Wear that make south Durham such an exciting place to walk and a challenging place to cycle.
